A degree in economics is highly reputed and well recognized courses in the university as well as in the field of industry. It introduces students to the basis of microeconomics, macroeconomics, quantitative techniques, development economics, public finance, international trade, money and financial markets and indian economy. Elective courses that are offered with the honours course, have been judiciously selected following the guidelines of University of Burdwan, bearing in mind a multidisciplinary framework ensuring wide diversity of courses across the field of economics. After pursuing an Honours in Economics, students have the options of pursuing a Masters course in the subject or allied disciplines in universities, taking up professional courses, appearing for the WBCS or UPSC examinations and other competitive examinations and opting for direct placement in several corporate and govenmental organisations. • Presently the department has one seminer room as well as class room with about 400 sq fit of area
• Presently 2 full-time Teachers out of 3 full-time posts. Both are Assistant Professor

• Two computer with internat facilities and one printer.
• Departmental library with about 300 books in different papers
• Department now follows CBCS system and NEP, 2020
• Number of students is poor; 8 in Honours course and 15 in General course
• Besides teaching and councelling to students, teachers do research work, administrative work and other related activities
